49 to 122 Employees — Full Executive Layer Built by Six Sigma Talent
Degica, the company behind KOMOJU — a leading payment gateway enabling global merchants to access Japan's complex payment ecosystem — scaled from 49 to 122 employees in nine months. Six Sigma Talent placed the entire executive layer: CFO, CPO, VP Marketing, VP Revenue, VP Engineering, VP SRE, VP Partnerships, VP Customer Success, and VP HR.
About the Client
Degica powers digital commerce through KOMOJU, a leading payment gateway that enables global merchants to access Japan's complex payment ecosystem. Positioned at the center of Japan's accelerating digital payment adoption, Degica required rapid expansion of its commercial and engineering capabilities to capitalize on market demand.
The Challenge
Degica needed to more than double its headcount in under a year while simultaneously rebuilding its entire executive layer. Hiring this many senior roles in parallel — across C-suite, commercial, engineering, and operations functions — is a failure point for most companies. Coordination and quality control across simultaneous searches were critical.
Our Approach
Six Sigma Talent began supporting Degica in October 2023 with a hybrid Executive Search + RPO engagement. Retained executive search was used for C-suite and confidential senior hires, while RPO handled the parallel volume of VP-level and specialist positions. One SST senior consultant coordinated the full portfolio.
Results
By July 2024, the company had scaled from 49 to 122 employees. Six Sigma Talent placed the CFO, CPO, VP Marketing, VP Revenue, VP Engineering, VP SRE, VP Partnerships, VP Customer Success, and VP HR — effectively rebuilding the entire executive layer. The foundation was in place for Degica's next phase of growth.
