About the Client

SoftBank Group is one of the world's most influential technology investment firms. The company deploys capital primarily through the Vision Fund platform — Vision Fund 1 (approximately $100B, launched 2017) and Vision Fund 2 (approximately $56B, launched 2019) — with a portfolio spanning AI, robotics, telecommunications, and frontier technology.

The Challenge

Until 2017, SoftBank primarily engaged domestic Japanese recruitment agencies for leadership hiring. As the Vision Fund scaled its operations, the firm required globally-experienced finance leadership that could operate at institutional-grade pace — a talent profile that domestic agencies struggled to access.

Our Approach

Starting in 2018, Tony Nakada became one of the few international search partners engaged by SoftBank's leadership team. The engagement focused on retained executive search for key finance roles, with deep global market mapping, exclusive candidate presentation, and confidential offer negotiation.

Results

Multiple senior finance leaders were successfully placed, contributing directly to the scaling of Vision Fund 1 and Vision Fund 2. The engagement established Six Sigma Talent's reputation as one of the few Japan-based firms capable of operating at the scale and confidentiality required by global investment platforms.
